Santa Claus is Coming to Town

We took Kendyl to the annual Frosty and Friends through Parents as Teachers yesterday. She was terrified of Santa still. I am really looking forward to the time she is actually interested in sitting on his lap and telling him want she wants for Christmas. I really thought this might be the year, especially when I asked her what she wanted and she told me she couldn't tell me because I am not Santa :-).

We only have a couple more days until we close on the new house. I am so excited to think about how by this time next week we will be living in our new home!

Its Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Last night may have been one of the best nights of Kendyl's short little life. She had so much fun hanging out with her parents. I treasure these times because I know eventually (hopefully a long, long time from now) she will not want much to do with us.

So we started the night off with dinner at Steak n Shake. Kendyl's favorite part was that we got to eat inside. Mommy's favorite part was the caffeine free diet Coke! After Kendyl ate her salad and applesauce and drank her chocolate milk she decided she needed to go potty. I happily obliged because I am anxious to get her potty trained. I quickly realized this was not going to be a fast trip when she told me to turn around. That is her way of saying she is going to be a while if you know what I mean. So ten minutes later, we returned to the table only to find Daddy all bundled up and ready to go. We told her there would be a special surprise in her future!

We got all loaded in the car and headed to Tillis Park to see the Winter Wonderland lights. Kendyl thinks Christmas lights are beau-ti-ful so this was the big treat of the night. I am pretty sure she was most excited that she got to get out of her car seat and sit in the front with us. We tuned the radio to their station and listened to the Christmas music while we drove through the amazing light displays. Once we got to the end I got to listen to Kendyl talk about how the police weren't there so she didn't have to get back in her car seat. After much convincing she returned to the dreaded seat for our next stop.

From there we headed to Cold Stone Creamery. My favorite ice cream place. Kendyl loves the blue ice cream there. I think it might be bubble gum flavor. Anyway she devoured it. I had some Cake Batter Ice Cream with Reeses, Twix and Snickers. Can you think of anything more yummy? I didn't think so.

So that was our super fun night. I think the only thing that could have made it better would be snow, but who wants to drive in that?

Kendyl-isms

So lately Kendyl has been coming up with some pretty funny sayings. I am pretty sure she is hearing people say things are repeating them wrong, but they still make me smile. Last night she told me, "Thank you, here's my dress." After I thought about it for a minute I figured out she was trying to say, 'Thank you and here's my address' which her aunt had said earlier in the evening. How can you not love that?

She has also decided she wants to take ballet classes so she can be Barbie Nutcracker. She told me we can buy her some ballet shoes at Target and she will go to the class and be a ballerina. But she had to make sure I was not going to leave her there alone.

One of her favorite questions right now is, "What time it is?" Just like that with the words switched. And when you tell her she acknowledges it as if she actually knows what you are talking about. She even tries to through times into her sentences. She will tell you that we are going to Target at 10:00. The best part is her conception of time is so distorted. She is constantly saying we did some last night or today and she is off by days, weeks or even months.

I think my favorite is when you ask her if she is doing something and she says, "Yes I ma'am." I think I smile everytime I hear that because she is so serious and does not realize there is anything wrong with what she is saying.

So those are some of my favorites right now. I am sure I will come up with more to add as time goes on.
