American Idol Finale

So I have a funny Kendyl story and I am kicking myself that I didn't take any pictures so you can get the full effect, but some of them would have been inappropriate. So enough rambling, on to the story.

Let me just start by saying that Kendyl loves Fergie. In fact our local radio station has been playing a game that used Glamorous as the theme song and the first time she heard the commercial for it she had huge tears in her eyes because, in her words, "that was Glamorous and they didn't let it play." So she is a little bit of a fan.

Last night C gave her a bath right before American Idol, but we always let her play in the water once she is clean. So once Idol started she was still in there. We kept calling out to her to see if she was done playing yet and the answer was always no. So when the girls of the top 13 started singing Glamorous I looked at C.

He said too bad she is going to miss this, she would really like it. I told him to turn it up so she would want to get out of the tub and come hear it. So he turns it up and we hear. "Plause it!" (By the way that is not a typo, she really says plause instead of pause.) So he pauses it and she calls out, "OK, I will tell you when I am done so we can watch it." Just like that. She thought we would just wait for her to be ready. So I told her if she wanted to watch it with us she needed to get out of the tub.

Next thing I hear her fumbling with the drain, the water start going down and her splashing her way out of the tub. She came running in the living room in nothing but a towel that really wasn't covering anything and told us she was ready.

She sang along through Big Girls Don't Cry and thought that was it. Until Boom Boom Pow started. She begged us through shivering teeth to pause it so she could go get some jammies on, which of course we did. She came running back in half dressed ready to go!

Let me just tell you the facial expression my child makes while dancing are priceless. This would be why I am kicking myself for not taking pictures. To see her face when she is so serious and doing karate kicks in the air, oh it is priceless.

Once Boom Boom Pow ended she was asking if Clumsy was going to be next. I guess she thought she was at her own mini Fergie concert. Then she informed me she thought Britney was going to sing Womanizer. She was only a little disappointed because C rewound it and let her watch Fergie again.

And let me just say how happy I am that Kris Allen won! It is very rare that C and I root for the same person on Idol and we both loved him! When they announced that he won C let out a little yell and scared Kendyl, but we all went to bed happy.

Long Weekend in San Diego

For my birthday and our anniversary, C got me tickets to San Diego. It just so happened we fly out 3 days after my brother left from his visit. We both love, love, love San Diego so we were really excited. It was hard to leave Kendyl for 5 days, but it was nice to get away just the two of us.

Normally when we visit my brother there is a lot of alcohol involved, but this time I couldn't drink so there was lots of food involved. Unfortunately I had to watch my sugar levels so I didn't get to enjoy some things as much as I would have if I would have gone a couple weeks earlier, but its all good!

Here are a couple pictures of one of the beaches. I think this might be in Oceanside, but I can't remember for sure.

Here is a picture inside Hodad's. It has been voted the best burgers in San Diego and they weren't kidding! And the other picture is my brother's friend Romel by the Hodad's van.

After we left Hodad's we decided to drive to Carlsbad to see the flower fields. They were really neat looking, but once we saw the $10 price tag to get in we decided to skip it and take pictures from outside the fence.

That night we went to The Shout House. It is a dueling piano bar in downtown San Diego. We all had so much fun and I think once I am not pregnant I am going to have to make a date at the Jive and Wail here so I can experience one with beer!
Here are some pictures of us. A bunch of my brother's crazy friends went with us and I am pretty sure everyone had a blast!

All of this happened on Saturday, which happens to be the only day I really brought my camera. We went to Ikea on Friday and bought some stuff for our house. We also went to Dick's Last Resort for dinner that night. It was a pretty cool restaurant that served food in metal buckets.

Sunday we went and watched Romel play softball and then to see Obsessed. That night we had dinner at a restaurant on Mission Beach, I believe it was called Canes. We got to sit on the roof and look out at the ocean. We spent the rest of the night relaxing and watching movies at PJ's house.

We left on Monday after a nice lunch at a pizza place. We left that afternoon and our flight was almost an hour late taking off. After a near miss on the connecting flight, we made it back to St. Louis.

We picked Kendyl up the next day and hung out with my grandpa. It was a nice relaxing few days and it was much needed.

Easter

Easter was the week before my brother came. We had been looking for an afternoon Easter Egg Hunt for a couple weeks since Kendyl has ballet on Saturday mornings and we finally found one. A local church was sponsering The Great Egg Chase the day before Easter at 2. We thought it was perfect.

We went with Andrea and Gabe, Theresa, Landon and Braden, and Jessica, Jason, Ashley and Reilly. Oh and what seemed like millions of other people! The church sent mailers to everyone's house and put up a billboard and since it was a beautiful day, there were a lot of people there.

They held it at TR Hughes Ballpark and when we pulled up I thought there may have been more people there for that than there was for Fourth of July last year. We finally found our way in and went to the section for 2 and 3 year olds. There were so many people that Kendyl only got 4 eggs, but she didn't seem to mind.

After the Easter Egg Hunt Reilly, Andrea and Gabe came over to dye Easter Eggs. The kids all seemed to really enjoy it and I think C was pretty into as well.

Once they finished with the eggs they went and played outside while Andrea and I searched the internet for baby bedding.
Easter morning we went to C's mom's house for breakfast. We woke Kendyl up so she could see what the Easter bunny brought her. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of her basket. She got lots of candy, a little lawn chair, a big bottle of bubbles and a hula hoop.
Once she played a little we got her all ready for the day. Here she is in her Easter outfit. The sweater and hat still fit from last year which made me super happy because we kind of over spent a little.

When we got home from breakfast we had to start getting ready to have everyone over for Easter dinner. We let Kendyl enjoy her hula hoop all afternoon. Don't mind the panties, we didn't want her to get chocolate on her dress!

The Magic House

So, once again, I am not doing very well at keeping this blog up to date. So today, as I enjoy a lazy Mother's Day on the couch watching chick flicks, I will try to catch you up.

About a month ago (I know, I need to get better), my brother was in town. We, along with my mom and my grandma, took Kendyl to the Magic House for the first time with some free tickets my aunt Debbie gave me. When I first told her we were going to the Magic House she kept asking me who lived there, which was really cute. To say she loved it would be an understatement. I can't wait to take her back again!

Here are some pictures we took while we were there. The first thing we explored were these letter boxes. Behind each letter they had an object that started with that letter.

Then we found a table with crazy shapes you could fit together to build stuff. Kendyl had fun with this, but not nearly as much fun as Grandma Dunn. She kept saying she wanted to buy some!

Then we went into this section called A Little Bit of Magic. It is designed just for kids up to age 6. Kendyl absolutely loved this part. She got to play on a play area and in a sand room. She probably would have spent the entire weekend here if we would have let her!
Here she is in the sand room.

And here she is in the water room. She did not want to leave this room, but once we talked her into moving on I think she was pretty happy.

Once we left the water room we got to go into a Kendyl sized world. They had a grocery store, a bank, a kitchen, a pizza parlor and so much more. Everything was just her size and she was loving it!
Here she is in the grocery store checking out.

And here she is in the kitchen. The only problem was that she didn't want any other kids to play in there with her. At one point she hung herself out the window and pouted because the other kids came in there.

After we left the Little Bit of Magic section we went to the other side and found the room with the ball that makes your hair stand up. She was not too sure about it so Uncle PJ and I had to show her that is was fun and didn't hurt. She eventually let each of us hold her and make her hair stand up.

Once we finished letting our hair stand on end we went back to the Little Bit of Magic and let her play some more. Here is a picture of her when we told her it was time to go home. She was not happy at all!

We we left there was a local radio station parked outside. They were there letting kids plant trees and handing out tickets to the new Disney movie Earth. Kendyl and Uncle PJ planted a tree together before we left. We definitely have to make sure to go back and check on it!
