Flu

The horrible stomach flu has made its way through our house this weekend. Poor Mady brought it home with her on Friday. It hit me early Sunday morning and Daddy got it this morning. Luckily it is only a 24 hour bug and we have kept Kendyl away from the sickly one so far. I am figuring if she doesn't catch it by tomorrow, we might be in the clear.

While I was lying in bed yesterday, doing absolutley nothing, I was thinking. What happens when a SAHM gets sick with the flu? There is no way I could have taken care of my lovely children without contaminating them with the yucky flu bug, so how do these moms do it? I guess I need to figure it out since I only have 4 1/2 more months at my job.

BTW, anyone know of a great company hiring an HR person? Or, would you like to buy some candles? I kid, I have an unusual peace about this whole situation.

Changes

So there have been a few changes around the Heitland house. First of all, Mady is a full time walker! She started really walking all the time September 9. She is even more busy and I did not think that was possible. This little girl is into everything!

Kendyl has officially started prekindergarten and she loves every minute of it. She is getting really good at writing her name and is learning so much every day.

Since I have been horrible at updating this blog I guess I should fill in some stuff I missed...

We went to Joplin at the end of June to celebrate Hannah's birthday. Kendyl just adores Hannah and had so much fun swimming and playing all weekend.

For the fourth of July we went to the Heritage and Freedom Fest in O'Fallon. Kendyl rode rides and both the girls enjoyed snow cones while they watched fireworks.

Of course, Mady Lou turned 1, but I somewhat touched on that.

Kendyl got to do a soccer camp in July. She spent every Sunday evening learning a little about soccer. She learned enough to know that she didn't really want to do it anymore so we didn't sign her up for a league this fall. We will probably let her try it again next summer.

We also took the girls to the Wabash Days fair here in Wentzville. We met up with our neighbors and Kendyl got to ride rides with Zoe!

In August I made the decision to start my own business selling PartyLite and it couldn't have come at a better time because...earlier this month I found out my position is being eliminated at the end of February. So I have been spending a lot of time trying to get my business up and running. I even have my own website! Feel free to check it out and do some shopping!

Kendyl went to her first gymnastics class, but her social calendar has been so full that she hasn't gone back yet. We are thinking maybe in October after we go on our next camping trip.

One of the fun things Kendyl did was go see Disney's Princesses on Ice with Zoe. They both had so much fun and I can't thank my neighbor enough for inviting Kendyl to go.

So now that everyone is all caught up and I am once again going to promise to try to do a better job at keeping this updated...

So, a month later...

I know, I know. I am really bad at this. All I can say is life happens and we have been busy! So Mady at one year...

She is standing by herself for short amounts of time.

She sleeps great and eats even better.

She is very opinionated and she makes those opinions known.

She still only says ma ma, da da and yeah. It seems like she is trying to say Kendyl but I think it will be awhile for that.

She walks very well behind things. She got a stroller and grocery cart she can push for her birthday and she loves to push them around along with the other walker she already had.

She still loves Kendyl and is really starting to enjoy her room more. Poor Kendyl keeps shutting her door to keep Mady out!

That is really about it. Hopefully I will add some pictures to this soon!

Walking?

So I just wanted to jump on here and make a note that today Mady took her first steps! I know I am way overdue to tell you what my super busy one year old is up to, but I will make time soon.

I will say at her one year check up she weighed 18 lbs 2 oz and was 29 1/2 inches long, but that is all you get for now!

Guess Who's One?!?!

Here she was one year ago...

And here she is taking her last bottle before she turned 1 last night...

I can't believe how fast this past year has gone and how big my baby is now!

Happy Birthday Mady-Lou!!!

Camping

Kendyl planned a family camping trip months ago. She called her aunt and her Paw Paw and asked them if they wanted to go camping with her and they both said yes!

This is where we planned to live for the weekend.

The plan was to go boating on Saturday and just hang out the rest of the weekend. Kendyl was most excited to have her Paw Paw make her donuts, but we didn't get to do that...

A big storm blew threw Saturday afternoon just as we were getting off the boat.

Aunt Heather and her family had left the windows of their tent open so all of their stuff was drenched!

Since the only thing we had planned for Sunday was breakfast and packing up, we packed it up Saturday once the rain stopped and headed home.

Even though our weekend got cut short, Kendyl enjoyed her first camping trip and we are looking forward to the next one!

10 & 11 Months

So, once again, I am behind! Maybe its because Miss Mady is soooo busy. When they say no two kids are the same, they are right! Kendyl was no where near as busy as Mady is...

So what does Mady do besides keep us on her toes? Well...

  • She is still a wonderful sleeper. She is usually in bed by 8:30 and sleeps until 7.

  • She pulls herself up and walks along furniture.

  • She is starting to walk behind toys she can push.

  • She laughs and smiles A LOT!

  • She says da da, ma ma, and yeah.

  • She loves animals especially our new hamster.

  • She likes to swim, but has started not liking her baths.

  • She still eats great. We have yet to find food she doesn't like. She is over being fed; if anyone is feeding themselves, she needs to feed herself too.

Viva la Mexico!

My hubby and I went to Mexico in April with my brother and one of our best friends. We had so much fun! We stayed at an all inclusive resort that was fabulous and we really enjoyed ourselves.

We spent time on the beach, played volleyball, did a canopy tour, played in the ocean and ate and drank to our hearts desire.

We missed the girls like crazy, but we enjoyed some adult time. Hopefully next time we can all go as a family!

Family Fun Day

Kendyl's preschool had a family fun day and we had a blast. There was a magician with a bunny who put on a show at the beginning.

After the show was over, the kids got to play at different stations. There was a playdoh station, a craft station, a puzzle station, facepainting, a silly mirror, a bean bag toss, bowling, hopscotch, walking on buckets, a sack hop, basket ball and a ring toss.

After they played at the stations, everyone got back together and we sang songs and had contests. Kendyl and I did a three legged race, but I don't have any pictures of that! She really loved Family Fun Day and was so excited to have me there with her!

Here she is at the play doh station...

and here is her arm after her "face" painting. She didn't want it on her face...

Here she is doing the sack hop...

Here she is walking on buckets...

Here she is doing the bean bag toss...

Here she is doing hopscotch...

And the ring toss...

She had a great time and so did I. Next week she has a recital at her other school and we are looking forward to that too!

8 & 9 Months

So since I am so far behind, and Mady turns 9 months old tomorrow, I thought I would just combine the 8 and 9 month posts!

Here is Mady at 8 months...

And here is Mady at 9 months!

The biggest change has been the addition of teeth! Her first tooth broke through the day before she turned 8 months and the second one broke through the day before she turned 9 months!

Mady went to the doctor today and here are her stats. She weighs 16 lbs 4 oz and is 27 1/4 inches long. She is in the 10th percentile for weight and right between the 25th and 50th for height.

Mady is a eating machine! Tonight we started her on 3rd stage foods and that seemed to help her get full. We also let her try out yogurt melts and we bought her some of the Lil Crunchies. She hasn't tried them yet, but I am sure she will love them! She absolutely loves puffs and we really haven't found anything she doesn't like. The girl loves her food!

She still sleeps great. She has also learned to hold her bottle, which I absolutely love! She looks adorable holding her bottle. (I am not sure why this picture is sideways or how to turn it)
She has also learned to clap. She loves it when you say, "Yay Mady!" This is also a picture of her first pigtails!

Her daddy and I went on a little vacation and Mady got to spend the week with her grandma! She was great for her and I was so happy that she remembered me when I got back! The day after we got back, April 19, Mady started army crawling! She is on the move and there is no stopping her now. She still rolls like crazy but now she scoots too!

She is still her sister's #1 fan. She just adores her! They play together and Kendyl pretend feeds her, which really just makes Mady mad. She doesn't understand why there is no food on the spoon! I am so happy that they love each other as much as they do.

So here's to hoping I will get better at updating this. I am sure there are tons of fun times to come!

Yo Gabba Gabba!

So awhile back I won tickets to Yo Gabba Gabba on the radio. Kendyl was so excited! I won four tickets so we let her pick who she wanted to take and she picked her cousin Reilly. They had so much fun!!

It was kind of cold and rainy but that didn't stop them. We took both girls to lunch and then headed downtown.

We had pretty good seats so I got some great pictures. I have to admit my favorite part was when Bizmarkie came out and did Biz's beats of the day!

We had a great time and I can't wait to take her to the next fun thing!

4 Years?!?!?!

So I have had this post forming in my head since January 6 . That was the day my baby girl turned four years old. I am just floored. I constantly ask my lovely daughter, "When did you get so big?"

Kendyl is actually big enough to flip light switches without a step stool, when did that happen?

We bought her last nightgown from the big kids section, when did that happen?

Kendyl can turn on the water in the bathroom sink without a step stool, when did that happen?

Kendyl can write her name, when did that happen?

She makes art museums out of puzzles and brushes her own teeth and colors in the lines and watches non animated movies and so many other things that just blow my mind.

Everyone talks about how fast babies grow up (and I will be first in line to ask when my 7 month old figured out that fake coughing gets her attention), but it is hitting me so much harder with my four year old than my baby. I mean, I hear people say that 19 months in when they start getting baby fever and wanting another one because they are losing their baby, but four years old just feels like a big slap in the face.

Not only is she not a baby anymore, she is way too smart for her own good. The things she comes up with just amaze me. She talks about getting frustrated and has a memory that would blow your mind. This kid remembers everything!

Kendyl is an amazing eater. If you take her through a drive thru she picks apples over fries 95% of the time. If you take her to a restaurant she orders a salad. She likes to snack on fruits and veggies, which I just love. She likes almost anything and its usually good to try anything once. She still doesn't like potatoes, but she is starting to like most of the other things she was sure she didn't.

She just loves music too. Santa brought her this huge Barbie dream house, but let me tell you, her favorite toy by far is her Hello Kitty CD player. She will sit in her room for hours and listen to music. She also has her own iPod shuffle and she will carry that around with her headphones on until the battery dies. She is very opinionated on her music too. Boys can not sing along to Taylor Swift and you better not let a song stay on the radio that she doesn't like. The iPod is a dream cause she takes it in the car and she can listen to the songs she likes, but I don't have to. :)

I gues what I am trying to say is...I have one cool kid. I love spending time with her. There are some days where she is crabby and throws one fit after another that makes me think it is better not to leave the house, but for the most part you can take her anywhere. She is such a good big sister and loves to help out with Mady. There have been a couple of times that she told me she is tired of being the big sister, but most of the time she wants to be as close to Mady as possible and she misses her if they're not together. Last weekend she went to spend the night with her grandma and she was sad that Mady wasn't going, she was afraid Mady would miss her. Doesn't that just melt your heart?
